The idea of roughing it or parting with the creature comforts like a comfy bed doesn’t really appeal to my brood, so when we go camping we opt for a luxurious cabin instead. Being only 3 hours away from Dallas, Beavers Bend State Park is the perfect Fall or Spring getaway. Glamping at Beavers Bend State Park, Oklahoma is perfect for the 3Rs – Rest, Relaxation and Rejuvenation. The Beavers bend cabins in the area have everything a city family needs for a night in the woods – hot running water, electricity, air conditioning or heat, lush linens, granite counters, fireplaces, hot tubs and plenty of space to stretch out and unwind.

Things to do in Beavers Bend State Park
Once you have arrived at the cabins, you can explore the lay of the land and go for a walk through some tall pine trees. Enjoy a wonderful trail-ride with River Man Trail Rides, if horseback riding isn’t your thing, you can go for a canoe or kayak ride on the clear mountain fed waters around Beavers Bend. You can also charter a speed boat or a pontoon boat and explore the lake.
River Man Trail rides are located in the Ouachita Mountains in the heart of Southeast Oklahoma just 10 miles west of Broken Bow. Canoe or Kayak rentals are located inside the Beaver’s Bend State Park. There are lots of trails you can explore in the area or even try ziplining – the staff and guides at Rugaru are fabulous.
The Mountain Fork river is also famous for Fly fishing. We love to try fishing even if we don’t actually catch any fish! I shouldn’t say that, we did catch some rainbow trout in Vail, but we did have some expert help there though. You will see a purple fishing rod my little girl is sporting in one of the photos below, there are not many fishes that you can catch with that except for may some plastic one that mom throws in the water for you to reel in 😉
Or you can totally ditch the all outdoor activity and go for a massage at one of the Spas in the area and then some great lunch at either Abendigos or Grateful Head Pizza and Tap Room, no one is going to judge!

Luxury Cabins in Beavers Bend State Park, Oklahoma
Nestled among tall pine trees, you will find lots of luxury cabins in Broken Bow – suited for a family getaways or big groups. Don’t let the rustic looks of the log cabins fool you, they come with all creature comforts like hot tubs, outdoor fire pits and grill, luxurious linens – perfect for a weekend of glamping.
Most Beavers bend cabins have wi-fi and flat screens TV for those who need to stay “plugged” in to the social media and the outside world. Kids loved the log bunk beds in the cabins and we sat by the campfire and made smores at night. And the kitchen was well stocked that I didn’t mind making breakfast in the mornings. Not in the mood for cooking? You can arrange for chefs that will cook the meals for you.
The Talimena National Scenic Byway in the Ouachita National Forest, a breathtaking 54-mile route in southeast Oklahoma, is known for its spectacular fall foliage. Designated by the U.S. Department of Transportation as an official National Scenic Byway, the Talimena Drive was built specifically to highlight the area’s beautiful foliage and spans one of the highest mountain ranges between the Appalachians and the Rockies.
Nestled in the heart of Oklahoma’s Choctaw Country, just north of Broken Bow you can find stunning panorama after another as you travel along crests of forested peaks. You can make your way to this winding road from your luxury cabin at Beavers Bend in roughly one hour. I hear the colors peak, 2nd week of November. We have not made this drive yet but plan to do so in the near future!

Ria – we did catch some fish on one trip and one of our friends cleaned and cooked them in the cabin.
This sounds perfect! We used to go camping quite a lot when I was younger, and I did enjoy it, but it gets a bit uncomfortable after a while. (Also, having to walk to the other end of the campsite to use the toilet or take a shower was always a pain in the butt!) Looks like you guys had a lovely time!
Cabin house, fishing, kayaking, all of these I would love to do. Now, I want to try glamping. This is a really good experience. I’ve never done it. I would love to go.

That looks rather interesting! From your photos, I would have thought those were taking in Tennessee or Georgia. Wouldn’t have expected something like this in Southern Oklahoma, though!
