Art Uncorked: An artsy afternoon in Plano, painting and arranging Flowers

We got to spend a fun afternoon at Bottle & Bottega Plano sipping on some Fuzi wine and munching on delicious cake balls by Amazeballz while we got artsy.  Bottle & Bottega is a beautiful art studio located in Preston Park Village in Plano.  You can channel your inner Monet or Picasso at the bright and sunny studio space surrounded by art while having a fun party.  Studio owner Twylla Bell claims that it’s proven that inside everyone is a master artist just waiting to be uncorked. After all, she gave up her career in Finance to pursue the art business. She gently leads the group of partiers .. and helps tap into their creative side… all the while having fun… It’s my kinda party!!

For our art party, we were painting a glass vase and then learning some basics about flower arrangement.  We could either choose one of the designs Twylla had planned for us or go rouge and paint what we felt like.  Either way, we get to go home with a one of a kind cherished keepsake.  Twylla asked us for our color choices and got the paints and brushes out for us.  Don’t you love painting when you don’t have to worry about running to the hobby store to get your supplies… to make sure you had the right colors and brushes?!  We put on our aprons and got to work… I chose to paint some butterflies on the glass vase in yellow and turquoise.

Once we painted and dried the vase, it was time to arrange the flowers. Kristen from Plano Flowerama was there to guide us through the process. She had brought along all the supplies – some gorgeous greenery and lovely spring blooms.  She started naming names.. myrtle, variegated pittosporum, blue delphiniums artemisia, sunflowers, pink roses, carnations… while I just gathered my favorite colors – Yellow sunflower in the middle complemented by some blues and pinks… and a pop of red ranunculus.

Just like the vase, each flower arrangement was unique. Kristen also showed us that we need to remove any leaves that were below the waterline.  This will help prevent the growth of bacteria. And she also asked us to change out the water for the flowers regularly.  Every other day is a good rule of thumb, she mentioned. While changing the water out, it is important to wash the vase to remove any bacteria that may have started to form.  This will keep the water fresh for the flowers.  I was pretty proud of my flower arrangement and started dreaming about opening a small shop in Italy someday… hmm wouldn’t that be wonderful – Priya, the Plein air painter and flower shop owner!

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, going out for date night, or just looking for something fun to do in the Plano area, Bottle & Bottega is the perfect way to get the party started. Bottle & Bottega Plano can help host Mom and me parties (perfect for Mother’s Day),  birthday parties for adults, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, corporate team building parties and fundraisers.

The owners have done some amazing fundraising for Pets at the Operation Kindness shelter to help the dogs get adopted by having their cute puppy faces painted. They also did a Paint you pet party where participants brought pictures of their pets to paint. A percentage of the ticket sales was donated to the DFW Pup Patrol Rescues.  Fundraisers become FUNraisers when you uncork the wine and let loose your creative spirit.

Thanks for having us Twylla!

I loved my afternoon at Bottle & Bottega and came home with a hand-painted vase full of beautiful flowers!

NOTE: Bottle & Bottega is now under new management and called Painting with a Twist.

  1. Sadly, I’ve never done one of these sip-and-paint events. The end products always look so pretty. I like the vase idea; way more functional than a canvas. And those flowers are beautiful!

  2. This looks like a great place to have some artsy fun. I used to take my kids (when they were young) to a paint your own ceramics studio. Bottle and Bottega looks like an adult version.

  3. It’s such a beautiful and interesting place to visit. Perfect for art lovers. A great place to hang out indeed.

  4. This would be so fun for an afternoon out with friends! A new spin on the wine and painting concept, which seems really popular at the moment.

  5. I love the idea of flower arranging – such a helpful thing to learn! Only problem is I’d have no way to get them home so perfectly from TX 🙂
