Plano Magazine Celebrates its 2nd Anniversary

We got to attend Plano Magazine’s SUPER FANCY 2 ND Anniversary Party at the Skypony gallery in The Shops at Willow Bend Mall in Plano, Texas.  Lately, Plano magazine has become my go-to source for upcoming events and all things awesome in Plano.  Be it wine walks in downtown Plano,  trendy places to eat or the latest shows, did you know there is a comedy club in the ‘burbs now.  We have been seeing so much new business moving into Plano from Wine Country Cuisine to Asian Fusion, everyone seems to love setting up shop in Plano.  After all, Plano has as awesome school district and is the 3rd most livable city in the country!

SKYPONY GALLERY is a 9,000 s.f. Fine art gallery that is owned and operated by artists Kiki Curry Winters and Douglas E. Winters III. The gallery represents both local and national, emerging, mid-career, and established artists with a wide variety of artistic expression. There was art from the yesteryears of Dallas, Midwestern art and some colorful modern art and more including a Salvador Dali-esque Clock that I loved.  There was handmade jewelry by Glenda’s Design for sale as well. Skypony will have be having art classes by Teta that I’m excited about looking into.

While I love Luke and Jennifer Shertzer’s vision for the Plano Magazine to be a trendy, hip, diverse resource that resonates with the people of Plano, what I loved most about the evening apart from the beautiful cake (How cute is that champagne on the cake) is that the food was catered by My Possibilities.  An organization that helps adults with different cognitive disabilities reach their greatest potential.  They prepared and served the finger food with big smiles that tug at your heart.  The proceeds from the sales went to benefit the HIPsters (Hugely Important People) who attend My Possibilities. Check them and out and get involved if you get a chance, its a wonderful work they do – a trailblazer for an innovative model of education for this important underserved population. Their trademark curriculum focuses on vocational training and job placement, self-advocacy, socialization and independent-living skills, health and wellness practices and creative expression.

There was art, wine, food and beautiful people at the party and giveaways too.  Jennifer, the Editor for the Plano magazine along with Luke her husband and publisher at the magazine, drew business cards dropped in by the attendees for giveaways to meals at Whiskey cake, a local favorite and fancy car washes by Trademark where you can sip on wine while they tend to your car and a few other local businesses. It was a fun evening!  Thanks for having us Plano Magazine!!
