Why drinking from a Copper Water Bottle is good for you

If you had walked into my grand parents home in India you would have seen copper jugs and cups or tumblers as they were called in different sizes and shapes – little did I know the significance of them till now.  While searching for a gift for my mom I came I across CopperH2O’s water bottle – a sleek and shiny, hand made and portable modern design based on ancient wisdom.  Score! Perfect gift for someone who at age 65 still wakes up with the sun to do yoga and lives by the principles of Ayurveda!  She cooked according to the seasons, made fresh almond milk for us every morning before the tetra packaged ‘alternate milk’ became a thing… I knew she would appreciate this beautiful and traditionally hand made Copper water bottle.

Drinking water stored in a copper water bottle or other copper vessel has amazing health benefits and is widely recommended by health experts. Water stored in a copper vessel – which is known as “tamra jal” in Ayurvedic medicine, balances the three doshas in your body (vata, kapha and pitta) by gently infusing the water with the positive health properties of copper. Water stored in a copper water bottle will also become a natural alkaline water, which helps balance your body’s pH levels.  All you have to do is store some water in a pure copper water bottle or vessel overnight for the copper to be infused in the water.

Drinking from a copper water bottle can also dramatically decrease the appearance of fine lines and slow the appearance of aging. Water stored in a copper bottle is loaded with anti-oxidants, aids the production of new skin cells, and fights off free radicals which contribute to the appearance of aging.

Because water stored in a copper bottle is loaded with anti-oxidants, it is also effective at helping prevent and fight off cancer. In fact, studies conducted by the American Cancer Society have shown that copper has significant anti-cancer effects on the body and prevents the onset of cancer.

Copper is the key component in the production of new cells that help replenish the top layers of your skin and keep it fresh and glowing. The production of new cells promotes smooth, blemish-free and clear skin. Experts say that drinking from a copper water bottle on a regular basis, especially early in the morning, can make a very significant difference to the health of your skin.

Copper cannot be produced within the body and needs to be sourced from external sources. Studies have shown that people that experience problems with their thyroid generally suffer from low levels of copper. While copper deficiency is most common with people that suffer from hyperthyroidism (over-active thyroid gland), copper deficiency is also common with people that experience hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid gland). Copper is one of the most important minerals and is essential in order for your thyroid gland and body to function properly. Drinking from a copper water bottle helps combat copper deficiency and regulate the proper functioning of your thyroid gland. In addition, copper aids the body’s absorption of iron, which is essential to maintain healthy iron levels and prevent anemia.

Copper is anti-bacterial and acts as an effective anti-oxidant, improves immunity, supports good health, prevents aging, eliminates toxins and free radicals, and stimulates the brain. Because copper is naturally anti-bacterial, copper water bottles are naturally self-sterilizing and do not require as much cleaning as other water bottles.  So get your self a couple of these beauties and help eliminate the use of plastic water bottles –  you will help the environment and also achieve some amazing health benefits!
